Description

Open Fiber, an Italian company founded by Enel and operating in the telecommunications sector, stated that it needs 1,000-1,500 workers immediately and another 8,000 in the coming year. Open Fiber hires are aimed at various profiles including, in particular, workers and employees in the activity of cable laying, fiber splicers, testers and drivers of both heavy and light vehicles, for the execution of earthmoving for the pipes.

The main problem is the lack of manpower, in fact, the company is thinking of turning to the prisons to try to reintegrate inmates and get them to work on the construction sites. At the moment, four inmates of the Bollate (Milano) prison are already working on Open Fiber construction sites.

Open Fiber won the tenders for the design, construction and operation of a state-owned fibre network. There are 8.7 million real estate units where fibre will be installed, located in so-called white areas (areas where no operator has expressed interest in investing in connectivity).
