Description

The management of car manufacturer Stellantis has announced the reduction of its workforce in France with the implementation of a plan for 2,600 voluntary departures by the end of 2023. The company informed the trade unions. Management is thus extending the previous departure plan, which ended at the end of March 2022 and that involved the departure of 1,380 employees. The reason behind the plan is to support the future technological transformations, i.e., the energy transition and the development of software. In return for the departures, the unions insist on hiring and expect they will represent half of the departures. According to the CFDT (French Democratic Confederation of Labour), the permanent workforce at Stellantis has fallen from 74,000 in 2007 to 40,000 in 2020 (45,000 according to management).
