Description
Cloetta, a Swedish multinational confectionary producer has announced a restructuring within the company, leading to a closure of its facility in Turnhout. The company plans to establish a new centralised production facility within the Netherlands, combining the production capabilities of its three current facilities (2 in the Nethetlands and 1 in Belgium). In total 115 employees are at risk of dismissal.
The local trade union delegation reacted surprised, as no formal announcement and consultation with the trade unions had been planned at that time. This is remarkable as it is obligatory under Belgian law.
