Description

The food company Roler (dedicated to the production of fresh meat products and owned by the Spanish Grupo Costa), has presented an employment regulation plan (ERE) to lay off 126 of the 162 workers at the plant in Terrassa (Barcelona). Formally, the reasons given by the company for the ERE are "economic causes". However, the unions point out that the measure is actually a relocation of production to the other plant that Roler has in Peraleda de la Mata (Cáceres). According to the unions, Costa Food has been "dismantling" the Terrassa factory since it took it over and has been transferring production and machinery to Extremadura. The trade union has demanded that the management withdraw the dossier and sit down to negotiate a plan for the future of the Terrassa plant that guarantees its continuity and jobs. Roler had a turnover of 85 million euros in 2020 and has around 500 workers between the two production plants.
