Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
ÖkoFEN, an Austrian pellet heating systems manufacturer, is planning to expand its headquarters in Niederkappel, Austria, creating 130 new jobs. The austrian company is a pioneer in the field of renewable energies and has met an increasing demand in the last years. The expansion of its headquarters has started in April 2021 and is supposed to be finished this summer. The production capacity will be doubled by then, resulting in a total of 50,000 heating systems each year. Leonore Gewessler, the austrian minister of climate protection, has visited the production site and has stated that this is an important step torwards the independence from oil and gas.
ÖkoFEN has eleven company sites around Europe and a total of 800 employees.
