Description
American Sony DADC has announced that it will cut 100 jobs at its plant in Terre Haute, Indiana. The company is moving gaming and disc production to its facility in Salzburg, Austria, and the plant in Indiana will be transformed in an assembly and distribution plant, where 150 workers will remain.
The dismissals will begin in March and will end in mid-2022. Dismissed workers will be offered a severance package. The company attributes the decision to the continuous transition to digital of home entertainment.
Sony Digital Audio Disc Corporation (Sony DADC) produces CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray Discs and PlayStation UMDs and provides several digital services. It was founded in 1984 and currently employs over 10,000 people in the United States. Terre Haute is the company’s last disc production facility in the U.S.
