Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Information technology company TietoEVRY is planning to cut 600 jobs in Nordic countries, out of which up to 250 in Sweden. The company has initiated consultations with trade unions in each country. Job reductions will be completed by the end of 2022 and will mainly affect administrative positions.
TietoEVRY has launched an efficiency program, aimed at saving 50 million euros each year to invest in automation. TietoEVRY pledges to offer workers reskilling opportunities and possibilities for internal mobility across the company.
In September 2020, TietoEVRY laid off 160 staff in Sweden in the process of the merger between the Finnish Tieto and the Norwegian EVRY (TietoEVRY 2020 SE).
TietoEVRY is a leading Nordic digital services and software company with headquarters in Helsinki, Finland, and operates at 24 locations in Sweden. At the end of 2020, the company counted over 24,000 employees globally and 2,351 in Sweden.
