Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Irish-owned digital food-ordering platform Flipdish is to create around 700 jobs worldwide by the end of 2022. New positions will be for software architects, data scientists, engineers, and product designers and others include commercial roles.
The Irish company has achieved a valuation of 1.25 billion euros and is the new Irish unicorn (a private start-up worth over 1 billion dollars), after about 100 million dollars of investments led by Tencent. Flipdish provides restaurants technology for online ordering for pickup and delivery; the technology also allows customers to order and pay at their table, among other uses.
Flipdish currently operates in 25 countries, including Ireland, Germany, Spain, the UK and the US. It was founded in 2015. Announcement for the company’s business expansion in Ireland is recorded in the ERM (Flipdish2022 - IE), with 200 new job creations.
