Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Bus company Go-Ahead Ireland (GAI) is to recruit 180 new employees. Most of the 180 new jobs will be for drivers but there are also roles in engineering, administration, supervisory and business support functions. The company will provide training to new drivers who do not currently have a license to drive a bus.
Go-Ahead Ireland was appointed by the National Transport Authority in 2018 to run certain bus routes. It currently operates 25 Outer Dublin Metropolitan Area (ODMA) routes, and five Dublin Commuter routes, with a fleet of over 200 buses.
The company said the new roles are being created due to the expansion of the business, and to meet the requirements of the implementation of the new BusConnects network redesign in Dublin.
Currently, the company employs over 600 workers in Ireland and is part of the Go-Ahead group, a British-headquartered transport group.
