Description

Deutsche Bahn, the German railways operator, announced to create around 22,000 new positions in 2022 however most of them will be replacing its aging workforce leading to an effective increase of around 2000 employees. Backround to this announcement is the business expansion scheme of the company and its aging workforce. By 2030, the railways operator wants to double its passenger numbers and also seeks to increase it volume in freight transport. Due achieve this end, the company needs to invest into its railways system as well as replace its aging workforce.

Updated, 18/7/22:Deutsche Bahn announced on 1 July 2022 to increase its recruitment target by another 15% to 24,000 people by the end of 2022. Depending on fluctuation, this should result in a net increase of about 4,500 employees in Germany by the end of 2022. This means an additional net increase of 2,500 employees compared to the 2,000 new employees reported at the beginning of the year.
