Description
The airline Corsair has announced the recruitment of 120 employees by June 2023 including 80 cabin crews. One half of the cabin crews will be recruited in the island of Martinique, the other half in the island of Guadeloupe. The airline thus intends to support local employment in these overseas departments. The candidates, selected by the public employment service, Pôle Emploi, have already undergone a 313-hour training course and will participate in "familiarisation flights" until May 2022. From May 2022, these new recruits will be part of the crews of the flights departing from their island. This project was supported through various aids by the local authorities and organisations.
In January 2021, Corsair announced a plan to cut 112 positions, to reduce costs during the COVID-19 pandemic. This announcement comes after the end of the collective voluntary dismissal plan that was proposed to the flight crew at the end of 2020 which was also implemented to reduce costs during the COVID-19 pandemic. This plan, which ended on 30 December 2020, lead to the departure of 65 cabin crew. Three previous restructuring of Corsair were recorded in 2006 with 211 job cuts, in 2003 with 300 job cuts and 2002 with 270 job cuts.
