Description
Valamar, the Croatian tourism company, will employ 400 new permanent employees in autumn 2021. Valamar has already launched various remuneration and education programmes which will be implemented and further developed during this winter and next spring in order to better prepare for the 2022 tourist season.
According to the current estimate of the Croatian Tourism Association, there will be a shortage of 35,000 employees in the Croatian tourism sector in 2022. This implies that one in three employees will have to be hired from abroad. During the COVID-19 crisis, Valamar, with the support of social partners and government measures, preserved all jobs through the 'Pause, Restart' programme. In 2021, the company recorded positive tourist results. However, for a better recovery of the Croatian tourism, it is crucial to improve working conditions in tourism and increase the attractiveness of this sector's occupations. Valamar is already starting with selection and employment for 2022, within the programme 'Good job at Valamar'.
