Description

US-based white goods manufacturer Whirlpool announced the opening of the collective dismissal procedure for the 327 workers employed in Napoli plan.

The decision comes after the lifting of the ban to dismissals, previously declared by the Italian government as a measure to protect employment during the COVID-19 emergency. It is also the result of a two-year dispute on the future of the production plant, deemed economically unsustainable by the company, and strongly defended by workers and their trade unions.

Previous government's attempts to find a solution have been unsuccessful until now.
