Description

The German group Kärcher plans to set up a new production facility in Latvia, creating 200 jobs.

The Latvian facility will produce spare parts for utility cars, such as cars used in street maintenance. Additional plans include beginning to assemble these vehicles in the facility. Kärcher has purchased space for production facilities in Jelgava municipality, where a production plant and a warehouse will be located.

During the meeting with the Prime Minister of Latvia, Krišjānis Kariņš, a member of the board of Kärcher, Michael Häusermann, pointed out that the decision to establish a plant in Latvia was largely influenced by the logistics challenges caused by the pandemic. "With the establishment of the plant in Latvia, we will be able to shorten Kärcher's long supply chains, as Latvia will ensure both the production of parts and the assembly of final products. The final product will be exported from Latvia to Western Europe and elsewhere."
