Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Hisense Gorenje, the home appliance manufacturer (fridge-freezers, cookers, washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers and TVs), announced the expansion of production and 140 new jobs. The company is looking for production workers and engineers for the home appliance development centre in Velenje. In the past six months, the production capacity increased by 60% compared to 2020. However, the comparison is not objective, given the turbulences from the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and the demand gradually slowing down. In July, the company employed 9,750 workers compared to 9,100 in July 2020 (this number includes production facilities in the Czech Republic and Serbia).
