Description

Austrian automotive research firm AVL is building a new development centre in Zalaegerszeg. The new site will create 150 new jobs over the next couple of years. Mostly, engineers (for developing and testing), test drivers, mechanics and measurement technicians are to be hired. The employees will receive – after the probation period – a cafeteria package, private health insurance, accident insurance, reimbursement of commuting costs.

The activity of the development centre will be based on the Zalaegerszeg test track 'ZalaZone'. AVL has a joint venture, named AVL-ZalaZone, with the state-owned firm designated to manage the test track to market and promote the services of the track to private business clients.

Despite the challenges posted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has managed to retain all its staff and continue to expand. The new site is part of the company's expansion plan which involves €7 million investment. The construction of the development centre is expected to be completed in February 2022 and the centre will start operating in May, with further expansion of operation and personnel afterwards.

In February 2021, the company has finished the construction of its new office building in Érd, which can accommodate 350 staff.

In 2018, AVL created 75 jobs in Hungary.
