Description

Endesa, a Spanish company operating in the electricity and gas sectors, has announced an investment of 1.2 billion euros to transform its electricity grid in the period 2021-2023 to improve supply to its 12.3 million customers. This investment will create 7,500 jobs, around 2,500 jobs per year, through its subsidiary E-distribución.

The company's strategic plan for the next three years assigns a very important role to the supply networks and focuses its efforts on improving the digitalisation, reliability, resilience, flexibility and efficiency of Endesa's extensive distribution network, which has 128,658 transformation centres, 1,270 substations and 312,422 kilometres of lines in 27 provinces in ten regions of Spain.

E-distribución was born in 2019 in order to help Endesa operating the energy transition in Spain, with a particular focus on the digitisation of the networks. This announcement comes after the early retirement plan of Endesa in 2020.
