Description

The management of the Anglo-Dutch multinational group Unilever announced the closure of its Knorr brand product manufacturing site in Duppigheim (Bas-Rhin), putting 261 jobs at risk. The claimed reason behind the restructuring is that the factory was running at 40% of its productive capacity due to a drop in the demand for industrial soups, there produced.

Both production units – dehydrated elements (soups in bags) and aseptic elements (liquids and soups in cartons) – are concerned. The date of the end of activity has not been communicated, since negotiations for the social plan should start in April.

Unilever has identified positions within the group's other factories to redeploy 70 of the staff to Unilever's factories in Eastern France. The group has also announced that it is studying options for selling the site, if possible before the end of 2021.
