Description
Hungarian meat processing firm Tamási-Hús is to expand its workforce by a total of 255 in the Southern Transdanubian town of Tamási, due to a large-scale investment project that started in 2018. The investment is expected to reach completion in 2022 and by that time, the number of employees is to surpass 500. Most of the new jobs will not require special qualifications, hence they will be available for low-skilled workers.
The development project entails the building of a new plant and a new warehouse, as well as installing new machineries. As a result, the firm’s sliced bacon capacity will increase, and the roast bacon output will grow twofold. The overall investment cost is nearly €43 million, one-quarter of which is covered by state subsidy.
Tamási-Hús is a subsidiary of Austria-based meat product company Gierlinger that has production facilities in five European countries. Tamási-Hús is a market leader in the production of bacon products and exports 60% of its output. At the beginning of 2021, it employed 359 people.
