Description

Eurest Luxembourg SA, the Luxembourgish catering company, is to cut 160 employees in all the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The catering sector in Luxembourg has been severely hit by the COVID-19 crisis, for this reason, layoffs will start at the end of March 2021.

The layoffs negotiations began at the end of January 2021. At the beginning of February 2021, the OGBL trade union and the EUREST management signed a social plan. The social plan includes a job retention part to avert major job losses. The job retention part incorporates a series of measures such as a training budget, internal mobility and professional reorientation schemes, as well as early retirement-adjustment schemes.

Eurest Luxembourg SA currently employs around 700 employees in Luxembourg and provides services to various establishments in the catering sector. The crisis has impacted on the company's major activities, as many establishments were shut under COVID-19 health restriction measures enforced by the government.
