Description
The Penny chain of supermarkets, owned by the German Group Rewe, announced the creation of 400 new permanent jobs by the end of 2021.
One hundred new jobs will be created at a new logistics centre in Filiiasi, Southern Romania, while the remaining 300 new jobs in 25 new stores across the country. In response to the pandemic, the company is also upgrading its stores and investing in digital solutions (automation of stores and communication with clients).
As of 2021, Penny Market operates 280 stores in Romania and employs 5,000 workers. In 2019, Rewe Group had a workforce over 363,000.
