European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Pascual, one of the main Spanish companies dedicated to the preparation and packaging of dairy products, has proposed to the unions a collective redundancy plan that would affect 200 people (10% of the workforce), most of them from the distribution division (Qualinza), but also in the industrial and central services area (Calidad Pascual).
The company, with this restructuring process, wants to reorganise its structure and thus adapt to market changes and digitalisation. The union CNT disagrees with the reasons given for the reorganisation, pointing out that the company made profits in the past years.
The company and the unions are already negotiating the terms of the collective layoff plan. This announcement comes after the company announced in June its new strategic plan 2020-2023, with new challenges and new positioning that gives more relevance to the sustainability of its production and distribution processes.
Updated, 22/02/2021:Pascual has reached an agreement with workers' representatives so that the restructuring plan announced in December will affect 137 workers (31% less than the initial number). Most of those affected will be employees in its distribution company Qualizanza and, to a lesser extent, staff from the industrial area and central services. More than 40% of those affected will be early retirements or voluntary redundancies. The agreement also includes counselling services and job search assistance.
