Description
Mercadona, a Spanish supermarket chain, is to hire 300 employees in the North of Portugal. The Spanish chain will open between eight to ten new supermarkets in 2021, and three more stores before the end of 2020.
Each new store will approximately employ 60 employees on average. Overall, Mercadona has a workforce of 900 employees in Portugal. Moreover, between 2016 and 2019, the chain has invested more than €220 million in Portugal.
Updated, 26/02/2021:The Spanish supermarket chain Mercadona will open nine new supermarkets in the North of Portugal - in Aveiro, Braga and Porto. This business expansion will create 500 new jobs to add to the 1,700 jobs the company already employed in Portugal. That is 200 more people in comparison with the previous announcement.
