European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Morska Stocznia Remontowa ‘Gryfia’ (Marine Ship Repair Yard ‘Gryfia’) announced that it will cut its employment by 200 jobs throughout a collective dismissal programme at its production facility in Świnoujście. The shipyard is to sell some of its properties and close the plant in Świnoujście. The programme will be launched on 9 November 2020, and the conditions of the programme will be negotiated with the local trade unions. The trade unions have also criticised the decision of the closure as they had presented plans of how to save the shipyard to the management.
The beginnings of the shipyards’ activities date back to the early 1950’s. The shipyard has two production plants located in Szczecin and Świnoujście; it provides services in repairs, conversions and new builds.
