Description

Tesco is to create 1,150 new jobs before the end of 2020. Some 450 of these jobs will be permanent, while the remaining 700 will be temporary seasonal jobs for the Christmas retail rush. The new positions will be in assembly and fulfilment of customer orders for online delivery, drivers to deliver them, customer assistants, plus a variety of other roles in stores across the country. According to Tesco, the demand for online shopping has doubled over the last six months due to COVID-19.

120 of the new permanent jobs, will be in Cork. The large supermarket chain previously recruited 1,000 additional staff earlier in 2020 to deal with the increase in demand as a result of COVID-19. Currently, Tesco Ireland employs over 13,000 people across 151 stores.
