Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The civil engineering company Bouygues Travaux Publics has announced the recruitment of more than 350 people at Le Havre (Seine-Martime), on the construction site for the foundations of the future Fécamp offshore wind farm.
In connection with the manufacture of 71 wind turbines, the company is launching a recruitment campaign in collaboration with the public employment service, Pôle Emploi. 300 positions are for formworkers and 50 for scrap metal fitters. There are also a few vacancies for storekeepers, labourers, electro-mechanics, basket drivers and telescopic forklift drivers. Recruitment is carried out by simulation: handling exercises or table-top assignments will help to identify the skills of the candidates. Overall, around 30 test sessions are scheduled until December. Recruited candidates will then be trained and hired on '12-month contracts that can go up to 18'. The first recruits will start working at the beginning of January.
