Description

Greene King, the British pub chain has announced that it will keep 79 of its sites closed and cut 800 jobs in response to continuing restrictions on hospitality businesses and the end of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.

A spokesperson for the company said a third of these sites will be closed permanently and called on the government to give more support to the hospitality sector to 'prevent further pub closures and job losses'.

Greene King is one of the largest hospitality firms in the UK – it was founded over 200 years ago and it currently runs 3,100 pubs, restaurants and hotels, employing 38,000 people.
