Dixons Carphone, the British electrical and tech retailer has announced that it will cut 800 jobs in its stores across the UK as it is making changes to its store management structure. Consultations with affected employees have already started. According to a statement by the company, retail managers, assistant managers and team leader roles are at risk of redundancy, while new sales manager, ‘customer experience’ and ‘operational excellence manager’ positions are being created.

A representative of the company said the new management structure will enable the company to adapt to an increase in online sales, however, they added that the company remained 'committed' to its shops.

Dixons Carphone operates under several brand names, such as Currys and PC World in the UK, Ireland and in other European countries. In March, the company closed all its Carphone Warehouse shops, making 2,900 jobs redundant.
