Description
As announced on 11 August 2020, the Bertelsmann owned printing plant Mohn Media will cut 470 positions until 2025 due to internal restructuring. Affected sites include Gütersloh and Marienfeld which have combined 2,000 employees – an exact distribution of cuts has yet to be published. First plans for restructuring were made at the end of 2019 due to business difficulties. The COVID-19 crisis has now accelerated the implementation of the job reduction.
The restructuring will be carried out gradually and in a social manner. According to the management, 60 employees have already left the company since the beginning of the year, 70 roles have been filled in by temporary workers and about 100 employees are to retire in the years 2023, 2024 and 2025. Of the remaining 240 workers, 100 are expected to leave Mohn Media via natural fluctuation and around 80% of the remaining 140 employees are eligible for part-time retirement programmes.
Management will start negotiations with the works council shortly to determine the exact conditions of the restructuring.
