Czech coal mining company Przedsiębiorstwo Górnicze Silesia (PG Silesia), a subsidiary of Energeticky a Prumyslovy Holding (EPH), announced that it will cut about 250 jobs throughout a collective dismissal programme at the coal mine in Czechowice-Dziedzice, Poland. The programme will be carried out by the end of March 2021, and the conditions of the programme will be negotiated with the local trade unions. Struggling in the face of the coronavirus crisis, earlier this year the company reduced the salaries of its staff by 10%, ensuring business continuity until the end of 2021. In the meantime, PG Silesia continues to look for a new investor as its current owner, the Czech holding EPH, is only able to guarantee its financing until the end of 2021.
Currently, Przedsiębiorstwo Górnicze Silesia employs around 1,700 people in Poland.
