Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Japanesse supplier of automotive components Yazaki Poland Automotive Products, a subsidiary of Yazaki Corporation, announced that it will cut 509 positions throughout a collective dismissal programme at its production site in Mikołów, Poland. The programme is related to the COVID-19 pandemic and a drop in demand which has affected the automotive sector. The conditions of the programme were approved by the local trade unions.
Yazaki Corporation was established in 1941 and produces automotive components, including wire harnesses, instruments and components such as connectors and terminals. Yazaki Corporation employs over 300,000 people worldwide. The factory in Mikołów has beem operating since 2002; it was acquired by Yazaki in 2011.
