Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Harju Elekter (previously Rifas), a company engaged in the production of control and process automation cabinets and other electrical equipment, is expanding its activities in Lithuania and is to create 109 new jobs in Panevezys by the end March 2021. The company plans to double the factory revenues and increase the number of employees from current 241 to 350. Most of the Panevezys production will be exported to foreign markets (Norway, Finland, Netherlands, France and others).
The Estonian-owned company belongs to the Harju Elekter Group which is one of the leading manufacturers of medium and low-voltage electricity and automation equipment in the Baltics and Scandinavia. Around 800 specialists are employed at the Estonian, Finnish, Swedish and Lithuanian branches of Harju Elekter. The Group's sales revenue was about €143.4 million in 2019.
