Gatwick Ground Services, the UK-based subsidiary of British Airways, which specialises in providing ground services at Gatwick Airport, has announced that it will start a reorganisation leading to 676 job cuts.
A statement by the company said that the redundancies were proposed to compensate for the reduced business activity in the wake of Covid-19. The reduced activities are due to British Airways suspending flights from Gatwick Airport.
Trade unions representing ground services staff are currently taking part in redundancy consultations with British Airways, the parent company of Gatwick Ground Services, which has announced that it wants to cut 12,000 jobs.
