Description

As announced on 10 July 2020 the German ground handling service provider Wisag Aviation will cut approximately 800 jobs in Berlin, at the airports Schönefeld and Tegel, due to internal restructuring. The announcement came as a surprise to the employees and trade union Verdi. According to a Wisag's spokesperson the company has to take measures due to the dramatically decreased air traffic (result of the COVID-19 crisis). Although passenger numbers have increased slightly with the beginning of the summer holidays, Wisag expects years to pass until air traffic has recovered. Management and the United Services’ Union entered negotiation, however, more detailed information has yet to be published.

Wisag Aviation has 1,500 employees at the airports in Schönefeld and Tegel.
