Spanish supermarket retailer Eroski has announced the already implemented investment of 2.9 million euros that allowed the opening of 30 new stores during the first six months of 2020 (while company's sales have increased almost 30%), creating 156 new jobs. The new stores are located in Catalonia, Madrid, the Basque Country, Castilla León, Valencia, Baleares, La Rioja, Andalusia, Galicia and Navarra. Eroski opened 58 stores during 2019 and expects to open 30 more stores this 2020. The model of the company is a franchise-cooperative, with working partners. According to the company, this model has responded better than the sector average to consumer needs during the coronavirus crisis.
