Description
RAI Amsterdam, a Dutch trade fair and conference center, will cut 125 out of 483 jobs. The conference center was re-opened on the 1st of July after being closed since 16 March as a result of lockdown measures to fight theCOVID-19 pandemic, but currently only small-scale events can be organised. It remains uncertain when the organisation of larger events can be restarted, this uncertainty has led the company to restructure its operations in order to cut costs. The company has asked the employee council for its advice on the restructuring plans.
RAI Amsterdam is a conference center that used to host 500 events with a total of 1.5 million visitors per year. In thecoming months, RAI Amsterdam will focus more on 'hybrid events', that is events where there is a combination of physical presence with online options. 'This development has been going on in the industry for a few years, but it has accelerated due to the crisis' stated a company's representative.
