Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The French-Italian aircraft manufacturer ATR has announced that the production of turboprop aircraft will be halved, with forecasts of deliveries of between 30 and 35 aircraft this year compared to 67 in 2019. A total of 204 positions should be cut, including 186 in France, about 15% of its workforce. Consultations with the unions have also been launched, with the aim of reaching an agreement in the autumn. Management has explained that it will do its utmost to ensure that the workforce reduction is voluntary.
