Description
The passenger transport operator Arriva notified of redundancy and plans to dismiss up to 300 employees in Skåne due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The employees who now risk losing their jobs mainly work on the local trains operated by Arriva.
According to the company, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted the number of passengers, which decreased by 7-15%. The number of employees who will be dismissed might be reduced if the situation normalises and the volumes of passengers increase again.
The managers of the company explained that they are trying to find alternative solutions to dismissals, such as changes to the timetables or reassignments.
Arriva is part of a large European passenger transport company with over 60,000 employees. The company is owned by Deutsche Bahn.
