European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The clothing brand Roberto Cavalli announced the closure of its administrative seat in Sesto Fiorentino (Firenze) and the relocation of the 170 workers to Milan.
The decision of the company's board of directors was communicated in a meeting convened on the issue of social shock absorbers to manage the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The trade unions deemed the announcement as unacceptable - in particular since the decision was not accompanied by any industrial plan - and accused the company not to care about the impact that this decision can have on its workers.
The major of Sesto Fiorentino accused the company, arguing that the relocation plan constitutes masked dismissals, which will harm workers and the entire territory.
