Description
Bureau Veritas, a multinational company specialising in testing, inspection and certification, has announced the closure of its subsidiary company Activais, that develops inspection of energy supply meters. This announcement will imply a collective dismissal of at least 330 of the 514 employees; 255 workers will be affected in Catalonia and 75 in Madrid. This statement follows the company's bankruptcy declaration to the court of Barcelona, just before the COVID-19 outbreak. According to the CCOO union, the insolvency is due to the growing production costs in the sector.
The company has not provided further information to workers, representatives or media about the timeline implementation, although the company and the unions are about to start the negotiation process. The workers representative rejected the collective dismissal plan, arguing energy supply incomes have increased in recent year, rejecting also its announcement during the COVID-19 crisis.
