Description

Danish tobacco company Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) closes two locations of its subsidiary Agio Cigars in the province of Noord-Brabant. The closure of the production facilities in Eerzel and Duizel will result in 280 to 300 jobs cut. Around 150 employees remain active at the Dutch office, which will be moved from Duizel to Eindhoven. The closure of the Dutch locations follows 8 months after the acquisition of Agio Cigars by STG. It is part of a larger reorganisation of the company, which also includes the closure of a factory in the Dominican Republic. Production will be moved to the remaining production locations of STG in several countries.

Negotiations between STG and unions have been started to provide a social plan for the employees losing their jobs.
