Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Polish producer of bikes and motorcycles Arkus & Romet Group announced that it will cut 124 jobs throughout a collective dismissal programme at its production facility in Dębica by the end of March 2020. The redundancies will affect all departments of the company. The decision is associated with the COVID-19 pandemic; as the company reveals, the pandemic hits the bicycle industry severely, because it occurs shortly after a period of steady industry growth.
Arkus & Romet has been operating since 1991; the company has markets in Germany, Austria, Belgium Sweden, the UK, Spain and Poland.
