Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 4 March, Semitech Group, a company that deals with telephone installations and repair, sent the communication notifying the start of a collective dismissal procedure for more than 300 workers and related declaration of cessation of activity to the national secretariats of Fim, Fiom and Uilm.
The notification took place notwithstanding all the commitments made at the Ministry of Economic Development where a ‘crisis table’ for negotiations has been opened since the company was sold by the French group Siram Veolia in 2018 to the Igi Investimenti fund.
The trade unions asked for the convocation of another ‘crisis table’ at the Ministry of Economic Development.
